The Little Girl with no Face

This rug is coming along nicely if you remember the Royal Blue that I dyed a few months back for the young hockey girl's jersey.

The hooker/owner of this rug needs some help (from my mother not I) getting the little girls face just right. Anyone that has done facial expressions in Fibre Art knows that if you hook the facial structure wrong this pre-teen hockey girl could appear to be 70 years old just by the wrong tones, shading and bone structure.

I will update you as the rug progresses.

Skeleflora next step

Working away at the Skeleflora Purse Pattern, time is just ticking away and October 13 is getting closer and closer.

Close up.............

I picked out four colors of red for the outlines of the flowers. I'm not 100 percent sure about the background yet, I'm thinking some soft golden yellow hues.

Auction Shopping this weekend past

I was at an Auction this Sunday past and didn't plan to buy a thing...... just going to look around ahhh sure and look what I ended up buying this 6 foot high storage cabinet. Along with this cabinet I also found myself a new 'to me' end table solid oak with carved flowers on the sides.

O how I love a day at the Auction.

This cabinet is much smaller than the last one I had packed full of stuff, what's even better? in the photo below it's filled to the top with all my 1/4 Yard Wool Backgrounds, I still have the other shelving units with the swatches and the 1/2 yards and Yard.

But what a spacesaver this one is!!!

Sorry No Turkey this Weekend

Bought a new Roaster this weekend the family was quite excited saying "umm Turkey is that what you are going to cook tonight?"

I laughed NOT! ...................

This roaster is for dying wool not for food. I knew ahead of time what they were thinking and just waiting for the comments. Hoping to create some new casserole colors this week if my real paying job is not too too busy. Last week was a right-off for anything personal.

I did finish all the flowers on my Skelefora Purse except the purse flap, I have several reds picked out to hook around the flowers trying to follow the design of the original pattern, it is my weakness to not be focused and detour from instructions.

I was at an Auction today and got a new piece of furniture for my 1/4 Wool Backgrounds , they fit very well in it. I'll show you that one tomorrow. Still cleaning and moving the wool around.

Loon on the Water , strike two

Thought I'd share another version of the Loon on the Water pattern, my dip dye is a little bit brighter on the sunset this time, the bottom will be this #22 Strong Deep Blue shown in the photo, I'm unsure yet what our friend Grace is going to mix into the water area with this background, stay tuned.

The first Loon on the Water is completely done with the edges whipped and pressed. Good Job Grace!!!

Two first's in one day

I started my Skeleflora Hooked Purse today, this is the first time I have used cotton rug warp until now I have always used Burlap either Primitive or Scottish, it's a nice product very soft and flexible.

Secondly I have not used wool yarn before but I figure because the Skeleflora pattern uses yard what the hell I'll try it. It's not a bad product either I enjoy the ability to just keep hooking and only cut the yarn as needed with wool stripes the flow is not the same.

On the yummy side of my day I had some homemade Spelt Bread with peanut butter for breakfast thanks to Mommy for baking some bread on the weekend, we received the recipe from my Aunt I talked about in a previous blog posting. Did I mention that I'm an only children and love to be spoiled rotten still.

Bija Tea was also on the menu today, I'm hoping the slimming powers of this Tea payoff

Off to Pennsylvania the Puppy goes

Our custom designed Boston Terrier rug pillow and floor runner are off to their new home today.
My dog Libby was not to keen to give this rug up. There is something about wool rug's that dogs are drawn too, it doesn't matter who comes in to the house and drops a rug on the floor to display, before we even notice it Libby is quick to get in there and sit on the rug. I hope Kathy's dog Dixie enjoys the rug as much as Libby.

New and Improved Brown Color

I dyed a new color brown this Sunday past it was drying on the clothesline so I couldn't show it till now as I was away Monday and Tuesday.

The color on the far right side of the photo is our # 9 Golden Tan Light and the other pieces of wool are my new brown color, it doesn't have a name yet, I used the same base formula with a double abrushing of Redness Brown.

Off to bed now with my hateful 2 layer rug project.
