Hockey Night at the Beaton's

Hockey is a large Canadian sport, unlike alot of Canadian's I don't know a thing about the sport of Hockey or the teams involved, they are just grown men skating around with sticks and a puck. This rug was hooked for a special little boy who does loves the game and asked his Grannie to design a rug for him. Peter was thrilled to open his gift and find this rug inside, I believe he has already hung it on his wall.

New Violet Color

New swatch color #414A, this is a softer version of the Plum Purple which I had for sale recently. I must have taking 40 pictures of this one to try and get the tones and the abrushing throughout the middle pieces.

Doggie Days - Bobbie

This little dog pattern reminds me of my childhood dog, I used to dress him up in doll clothes hehehe. Bobbie was a pure breed Boston Terrier and he brought lots of joy into our lives.

Below the the original pattern hand drawn by Nancy, the pattern really doesn't come life until you see the finally results. Nancy used Elizabeth Black's Black which is the perfect color for animals, not too too black, just right.

A Rose is a Rose

Roses are Red , Violets are Blue, if the snow doesn't stop I might go south too. My mother Nancy is off to warmer climates today, sounds like a good idea today with the snow still falling.

The photo above is another rose hooked by Nancy, the rose itself is very detailed # 3 cut with yellow , reddish tones and a little brownish red through the centre, size (18 X 16 1/2) hooking on Scottish Burlap; the leaves are shades of a green swatch darkest in the centre out to the lightest shade. This rug pattern could be easily turned into a cosy pillow. Below is the original pattern that has been used on several chair cushions.

Happy Easter

I was babysitting this little pure breed Boxer last night, Jack is a pleaseant boy and knows several commands, he slept on the bed and crowded us out most of the night. My dog Libby was not too happy with the whole scene, and wasn't that willing to share her toys and bones.

Weekend Greenies

I was asked to dye a few yards, using this photo above as the tone of green. But they want less abrushing and more color in the material. So this is my weekend fun project, and I love a challenge. I used some Natural Dorr , Morning Glory Blue and re-overdyed a piece that I was unhappy with.

in the bath they go....

little bit of fresh air to avoid shrinking the wool ,and easier to iron pressed later

Here I have from left to right the Natural Dorr, next the overdyed Blue and the re-overdyed red , perfect. Mission complete.

Cottage Country, soon I hope ..

Cottage Time will be here soon, well that is what we tell ourselves. This beautiful rug is of a cottage scene with the little Fire Hyant on the front lawn, several bushes on the left side, and some larger trees peeking around behind the cottage, also showing a Canadian Flag in front of the Cottage.

Cross your Fingers that spring is finally here as the snow has dropped alot the last few days. This one is also hooking and designed by Marilyn B.

A Thousand Welcomes

This rug was hooked for a Family as the name 'The Beatons" the background color is on Pond Green and the Burlap is Scottish. The cut is in #3 and #4 so very small detailed cut but a basic design. I never got a picture of the finally pressed rug with the edges cleanly finished but I think you get the point. I tried to lighten the picture up a little bit without distorting the image.
