Finally a New Post

I thought I better get into the mode of posting again,  this is a rug hooked by Gracie and designed by Nancy. 

I'm waiting for an IPad2 maybe that will encourage me to post more often. 

Weekend Stars Project

Just a little weekend project with a leftover edge of my rug burlap. I'm using some recycled wool and just hooking outward till I run out of wool, great strategy eh? LOL

Do you know what this is?

To the untrained eye it looks make a mess, well it is but .... this is the future kitchen sink of my Studio. The copper, ABS pipe ,electrical and natural gas water overflow lines had to be adjusted before my drywall guy can finish this area.

New cool color coming tomorrow, I'm seeing green.

Live Life, Love Hooking

Off to the shopping malls today with a Christmas gift card in hand, I'm now the proud owner of more bras and panties than one person needs. I have a new pair of pants that are long enough and a polar fleece sweater ( as the temp. drops down here by the day) and last but not least a "new dining room light fixture" I can see my wool that is still all piled up in the dining room as the basement studio is not hold for the drywall guy, everyone knows the story of 'the guy' as they hold you for ransom.

The words on the rug will stand out with the lighter colored background, I have know idea where the inspiration for this rug came from originally I was doing a earth tone primitive but this bright recycled blue for the flowers changed my mind. The colors I've been drawn to are softer than first plan so this will be a wall hanging for my bedroom. Size is approx. 38 X 18.

Update on my rug today, can you guess the last word? I have all the flowers completed also and started around the edging.

Update on my rug hooking - two more words " Live Life" , sneak peak of the Flowers on the left side, color planning the background this week also.

I was too lazy to dye wool last night and had to work a little bit.

The Hockey Girl pattern update

Update on the young hockey girl's rug pattern, 90% done now with the face and hair done.

The tiger mascot was re-done twice very difficult to hook at image with alot of detail in such a small space.

House Coming Along nicely

An update on the house pattern that Grace is working on she was in for a visit today and picked out a soft yellow for the windows. Because most this house is white on white the uses of multiple tones to show shading is necessary.

The front door will have to be re-done as it is also white (not green), Grace will use a very light grey shade to not loss the white door in the front of a white house with white window casings.

The Little Girl with no Face

This rug is coming along nicely if you remember the Royal Blue that I dyed a few months back for the young hockey girl's jersey.

The hooker/owner of this rug needs some help (from my mother not I) getting the little girls face just right. Anyone that has done facial expressions in Fibre Art knows that if you hook the facial structure wrong this pre-teen hockey girl could appear to be 70 years old just by the wrong tones, shading and bone structure.

I will update you as the rug progresses.

Skeleflora next step

Working away at the Skeleflora Purse Pattern, time is just ticking away and October 13 is getting closer and closer.

I picked out four colors of red for the outlines of the flowers. I'm not 100 percent sure about the background yet, I'm thinking some soft golden yellow hues.

Rain Forest Animals, getting ready for the new baby in the family

I have a soon to be new second cousin coming hopefully this month. Nancy is hooking away at this Rain Forests Animal pattern for the new babies room, there will be four different animals on this pattern design. The little Tiger is first, these are not very large characters so the hooking updates will be coming in throughout the next few weeks.

I think I have bitten off more than I can 'hook'

I have been slack writing on my Blog this week the days just slip by, my rug hooking project this week well it probably will be for the next year at this rate, as I'm moving quite slow. Not sure what I was thinking when I agreed to do this rug, it is a very old pre-printed pattern and as you can see from the first picture there are several holes in it.

Sooooo to properly hook this rug I have attached a second piece of burlap underneath with safety pins keeping the tension, and now hooking through 2 pieces of burlap.

Last night's accomplishment was two small green sections, there is a positive to a larger rug for the fall and winter months they are very warm on your lap. LOL

I will update everyone weekly but I can't promise a completed rug by Christmas.

Dixie the Boston Terrier

It's Dixie the Boston Terrier, this is the partly finished rug, the color swatch on the right will be the background I changed my mind and now have dyed the #16A lightly abrushed. There are 2 very large prints of Dixie on this rug , being approx 3 Feet by 5 Feet. I will update you as the rug processes.

Flowers - Pink, Blue and Light Yellow

This is another one of my Auction finds, nice soft oval pattern with pink, blue and yellow flowers. The second photo shows the raised flowers.

Hockey Night at the Beaton's

Hockey is a large Canadian sport, unlike alot of Canadian's I don't know a thing about the sport of Hockey or the teams involved, they are just grown men skating around with sticks and a puck. This rug was hooked for a special little boy who does loves the game and asked his Grannie to design a rug for him. Peter was thrilled to open his gift and find this rug inside, I believe he has already hung it on his wall.

Cottage Country, soon I hope ..

Cottage Time will be here soon, well that is what we tell ourselves. This beautiful rug is of a cottage scene with the little Fire Hyant on the front lawn, several bushes on the left side, and some larger trees peeking around behind the cottage, also showing a Canadian Flag in front of the Cottage.

Cross your Fingers that spring is finally here as the snow has dropped alot the last few days. This one is also hooking and designed by Marilyn B.

A Thousand Welcomes

This rug was hooked for a Family as the name 'The Beatons" the background color is on Pond Green and the Burlap is Scottish. The cut is in #3 and #4 so very small detailed cut but a basic design. I never got a picture of the finally pressed rug with the edges cleanly finished but I think you get the point. I tried to lighten the picture up a little bit without distorting the image.

3 Little Bears, complete

This rug is complete with the Sky Blue married into the other blues in the sky. I like the plaid pants on Father Bear LOL. Marilyn is a little camera shy but she is here showing her beautiful BlueNose Rug Print.

Summer Flowers

Thought I'd share this beautiful rug pattern designed and hooking by Marilyn B. , Marilyn was at a Deanne Fitzpartick Workshop recently and created this beautiful rug. You might notice that this rug is mounted on a board and is going to be hung over her doorway. Deanne has a way of bring the best inspiration and creativity out of people.

Loonie, she is coming along nicely

Gracie was in to visit with her Loon Rug Pattern, I think she has done an excellent job to-date. As I mentioned earlier she is using the dip dyed from Teal to Burundy Red. The Loon is in a Recycled Pattern with the outline in Black. She hooked his eye in a brown/orange color with white. We have picked out my #22 Blue for the lower water area.
